I looked at the quotes you sent as well as other investment companies and other types of investments.

 

He can invest his money in a second hand policy.  He chooses an income which is not taxable, no interest on the income or investment, but he will pay capital gains tax on the income or any withdrawal.

 

Discovery’s product – Guaranteed Income Plan – is low risk and only a small percentage of the income is taxable eg. on R4 000 pm only R358,14 is taxable.  Momentum and Sanlam has the same type of investment, but their tariffs are not as good as Discovery’s.  The tariffs differ every week and quotes are valid only 7 days.  I would suggest he waits until Monday and I will get a new quote which would look better than the one I got yesterday.  The one of yesterday already looked better than the one you sent me.  The only other difference between my quote and the one you sent me, is my commission – I take only 1% commission – which makes his guaranteed maturity value more.

 

As I mentioned to you, this type of investment is for a period of 5 years.  He receives an income of R4 000 pm and if he dies within this 5 year period, the capital will be paid to his beneficiaries immediately and the beneficiaries will receive the rest of the income until the end of the 5 years.

 

Charlene, any other investment is either high risk or too much interest. 

 

Please let me know if I should get a new quote on Monday.
